SMEC’s exceptional contributions to The Point Estate have resulted in the creation of a thriving urban community that stands as a testament to the development vision of Moremac and SMEC’s expertise in urban engineering, survey, infrastructure, and environmental consulting.

SMEC tackled some of the most complex engineering and water management systems that the judges have ever seen in Victoria and were a part of creating a community of high-quality, coastal-inspired homes set within an environment sensitive to its abundant natural assets, landscapes, and parks.

The project’s unique location and environment meant significant innovation was required by SMEC to develop engineering solutions and design to cater for environmental, geotechnical, and hydrological conditions at the site, including tidal waterways, flood protection levels, acid sulphate soils, pressure sewer systems and bioretention drainage systems. 

Set near the wetlands of Swan Bay in Point Lonsdale, Moremac was committed to environmental sustainability for The Point development and SMEC’s contribution helped Moremac achieve this, ensuring a positive environmental impact and significant gains in the future repair, protection, and preservation of the ecosystem around The Point.
