Overview
The UDIA Victoria Diversity in Development (Employer of Choice) Award recognises an organisation that has developed industry leading organisational culture, training, engagement and retention, and is exemplary in promoting and fostering diversity in the workplace.
The aim of the Award is to:
- Identify development industry leaders in diversity
- Recognise the positive influence that diversity in development has within organisations and/or the development industry
- Focus on the companies’ role and quality of diversity and involvement in various projects, rather than the size, value or importance of the project itself.
Entrant companies will be required to provide:
- Outline the policies your company has in place to promote diversity in the workplace
- Provide examples of how these diversity policies have improved company performance
- Provide a diversity profile of the company breaking down employees by the Board, senior management, middle management and other levels.
Nominees should be able to demonstrate diversity in the development industry within their organisation or within the industry as a whole, and should provide examples in which they have incorporated diversity in their workplace, the industry or in relation to a specific project/issue.
Important Information
- To be eligible for this Award, companies must have a minimum of 5 years’ continuous operation in the development industry or an associated industry.
- The winner of this award may have the opportunity to represent Victoria in the Diversity in Development – UDIA National Award.
- You must hold a current UDIA Victoria membership in FY25 to enter your project into this category
- Our Judges will determine if a site visit is relevant or required to the workplace and/or if an interview and presentation component can take place elsewhere.
The interview and presentation will allow entrants the opportunity to further showcase their organisational diversity policies and initiatives and allow the judges to ask more specific questions around their success and effects.

- Executive Summary (max 300 words) – this highlights the features of the team with reference to the award category criteria

- For example, photos displaying business or team diversity, organisational diversity and inclusion plans or programs or any other materials to support your submission

- Outline the company policies in place that promote diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
- Provide examples of how these diversity policies have improved company performance including:
- Outlining any challenges that have been overcome and may still need to overcome, and
- Innovations and differences that have been implemented in the organisation.
- Outline a diversity profile of the company, breaking down employees by the Board, Senior Management, Middle Management and other levels and showcase how the company demonstrates best practice in the development industry.
This award requires a written submission which will be judged based on the responses to the below items.
Following this our Judges will determine if a site visit is relevant or required to the workplace and/or if an interview and presentation component can take place elsewhere.
