The Melbourne City Council has a critical leadership role to play in the recovery and revival of Melbourne’s CBD and central city.
While we live across a broad range of local council areas, many businesses are located in the City of Melbourne, and must therefore vote in the Melbourne City Council elections.
The Melbourne City Council election is unique in that it has two simultaneous elections – one for the Lord Mayor and Deputy Lord Mayor (leadership team) and the other for the nine councillors.
The elected leadership team will lead the Melbourne City Council as it works to breathe life back into our CBD and central city as we recover from the devastating impact of COVID-19.
Given the importance of this task, UDIA Victoria asked each of the Lord Mayor and Deputy Lord Mayor (leadership team) candidates to give our industry an overview of their plan to bring our glorious city back to life.

UDIA Victoria Recovery and Revival Plan for Melbourne’s CBD and Central City.
We need a bold, proactive plan to bring our city back to life.
Victoria’s COVID-19 recovery depends on bringing our CBD and central city back to life. We need the people, jobs and economic activity that our amazing city has in spades to supercharge our recovery.
This is UDIA Victoria’s member-driven, thought leadership piece on the reopening and reactivation of Melbourne’s CBD and central city, in a COVIDSafe way.
