UDIA Victoria 2026 State Election Platform
Building Homes. Backing Industry.
In 2026, state political leaders must commit to building more homes and backing the industries that deliver them. Victoria’s economy, prosperity and liveability depend on supercharging housing supply.
Each year, around 120,000 new people call our state home. Every one of them needs housing, transport, schools, hospitals and community infrastructure.
Our $27 billion development industry is central to meeting that challenge. Yet at a time of unprecedented demand, the sector faces the harshest conditions in a generation – weak economic growth, crushing property taxes, planning and regulatory complexity, slow land release and rising construction costs.
Meanwhile, many of Melbourne’s fastest-growing communities continue to wait for the infrastructure they were promised.
This election, UDIA Victoria calls on all parties to adopt practical reforms that boost housing supply, choice and affordability, strengthen communities and restore Victoria as the premier investment destination.
To provide an evidence base for why UDIA is calling for these reforms, we commissioned Charter Keck Cramer to exam the current state of the Victorian economy, along with some lead and lag indicators of the property industry’s performance. The report is available below.
The next Victorian Government must make this state the best place in Australia to deliver housing, by guaranteeing land supply, fast-tracking approvals, investing in community infrastructure and supporting innovation in construction.
On behalf of our 10,000 industry members, UDIA Victoria stands ready to work with political leaders to get Victoria building again.
