Second step building, development & construction sector guidance for metro Melbourne.

Following Sunday’s announcement giving our industry the green light to get up to 85% of the workforce on-site; and the reopening of display homes, land sales offices, sales suites and open for inspections (by appointment); the Victorian Government has this week released updated guidance and FAQs material for our sector. 

Note: We know you are getting a lot of information on COVID-19 restrictions. With the information constantly evolving, UDIA Victoria is working hard to communicate only the most important and credible industry-relevant information.

In coming weeks, you will see important COVIDSafe communication materials tailored to reach our industry’s culturally and linguistically diverse people.

What you need to do:

  • Access the multilingual COVIDSafe communication materials here.
  • Print the posters, put them up in your workplace, in all languages relevant to your workforce.
  • Share the social media tile with your community, colleagues, family and friends.

New regulations: rent relief for commercial tenants.

New regulations have introduced proportional rent relief for commercial tenants, and powers for rent relief orders to be made when landlords refuse to negotiate in good faith with tenants suffering losses due to the pandemic.

The regulations ensure that rent increases as well as evictions for commercial tenants where rent relief has been sought will continue to be banned until 31 December 2020.

Appointed Chief Executive, Office of Projects Victoria 

Congratulations to Cressida Wall on her appointment as Chief Executive for the Office of Projects Victoria.

Cressida has been a remarkable industry leader as Property Council’s Victorian Chief Executive during this time of crisis. We thank Cressida for her valuable contributions to our sector, and wish her every success in her new role. 

Deputy Executive Director Matthew Kandelaars will assume the role of Interim Victorian Executive Director for the Property Council.

Re-Appointed Chair of the Fishermans Bend Development Board

City planning expert Meredith Sussex will continue to lead the organisation charged with advancing Australia’s largest urban renewal precinct – Fishermans Bend.

Joining Ms Sussex on the Fishermans Bend Developnment Board:

  • Entrepreneur and Chair of the Wheeler Centre, Susan Oliver

INGRID STITT
Appointed Minister for Workplace Safety; Minister for Early Childhood

Ingrid Stitt has been appointed to Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews’ ministry, filling the Cabinet vacancy left by former Health Minister Jenny Mikakos, who resigned Saturday. 

As the state’s new Minister for Workplace Safety, Ms Stitt will champion Government’s commitment to making our workplaces safer.
