The heritage Federal Woollen Mills and the Pilkington Glass Factory were situated on 7 hectares in North Geelong. Both of these large operations had ceased to operate when purchased by the Hamilton group, a Geelong based owner and developer. 

The redevelopment of the heritage buildings into a range of modern workplaces and venues for activity are the largest, and best quality development of their type seen by the judges. 

Pivot City is now home to more than 60 organisations and their 1,100 employees. It has over 4,000 square metres of gardens, light-filled workspaces, a 5.5 NABERS rating, one gigabytes per second fibre internet, onsite gyms, restaurants, cafes, events spaces, co-working spaces, a business incubator and a basketball court. Its development will be of great importance to rapidly growing Geelong.
