Villawood’s 1000-lot Delaray residential community in Melbourne’s Clyde North features a very large, constructed wetland which breaks new ground in large wetland management and design. Over a 10-year period seeds and cuttings were collected, propagated and over 500,000 locally indigenous plants were planted. The judges were impressed by its extent which encompasses several kilometres of restored waterways, habitat, and creek line. The project has pioneered techniques which are now adopted by Melbourne Water.
