Caulfield Heath by SJB with BECK Properties

Caulfield Heath occupies a five-hectare site owned by Melbourne Racing Club and adjacent to Caulfield Racetrack. In 2012 MRC entered into a development agreement with Beck Property Group
to develop the site.

Formerly open ground used for car parking associated with the racetrack, the site had already been zoned for residential development when SJB won the bid with its concept design of the entire site and the contract to design stage one of the project, Precinct One.

A development of this size is a challenge for any established community and SJB has attempted to create an architectural idiom in keeping with the long-established residential nature of theneighbourhood; street-side dwellings on the two main
thoroughfares, Kambrook Road and Bond Street, are two or three storeys, with entrances that open directly onto the pavement, with low fences and with facades of warm brick and cream render.

888 Collins St by Lendlease

Situated in the heart of Victoria Harbour, central Melbourne’s premium waterfront suburb, lays Melbourne’s most auspicious address – 888 Collins Street.

Inspired by Melbourne’s architectural landmarks, the two towers are on the corner of Melbourne’s most iconic Bourke and Collins Street addresses.

The location offers the best of both worlds: a world class commercial and civic precinct with waterfront views on the doorstep of Melbourne’s CBD.

With sweeping views of Victoria Harbour, Melbourne’s CBD, the
Bolte Bridge and Port Phillip Bay, the apartments are a luxurious
experience for residents, with club-like facilities including a pool,
gym, spa and library.

Cantala by SJB with ICON Developments Australia

An angular timber form appears to float at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac in Caulfield. Set amid a mix of period and contemporary residences, this elegant, sculptural element is the first of many
slow reveals offered up by the recently completed SJB residential project, Cantala.

A residential development is revealed comprising 25 multi-storey townhouses and a block of 44 low-rise apartments. At Cantala, SJB has struck a beautiful balance between the best of contemporary place-making and the sought-after aesthetics of leafy Melbourne

Cantala questions the typology of living and challenges the notion
of public versus private. It also challenges the notion of what a
building, an apartment building or townhouse should look like.

Urban renewal

Jaques Richmond by Riverlee Group

Jaques is an exemplary urban renewal project by Riverlee Group and Macquarie Real Estate Equity Funds that has transformed an industrial rock crushing business in Richmond into a contemporary home for many, remaking an important island site in the suburb.

The $290 million development was designed by Fender Katsalidis Architects and features 377 uniquely designed apartments and
townhouses at the former Jaques Bros Foundry, an engineering business established in 1885.

Paying tribute to its local heritage, Jaques also honours the memory
of legendary Richmond footballer Jack Dyer, with a street and retail
precinct named after the Australian Football Hall of Famer.

Lomandra by Urban Land Developments

‘Lomandra’ is a marquee 217 larger lot residential development located in Romsey in the beautiful Macedon Ranges only 63km from Melbourne’s CBD. The large 1,000sqm average lot size (old
quarter acre) has really resonated with the market with all lots at Lomandra selling out very quickly.

Pivotal to the success of Lomandra has been the high level of landscaping and recreational facilities offered which include: mod
grass tennis court, AFL, soccer and basketball goals and extensive playground equipment.

Lomandra is also proud to host Victoria’s first ever ‘homestead’
or ‘ranch’ style display village with some of Melbourne’s leading

Jackson’s View by Cartagen Properties

The Jackson’s View residential development in the growing West Gippsland city of Drouin offers Victorian families a lifestyle that is a little outside the box.

The 62 hectare site will eventually feature 500 new homes and a population of approx. 1,250, while more than 9.73 hectares of land have been utilised as public open space assets.

Land prices at the development range from $100,000 to $220,000, with a median price of approximately $180,000 and house and land packages starting from $400,000.

The site’s rustic natural beauty, residents-only Jackson’s View
Country Club and award-winning McNeilly Park have been
instrumental in drawing home buyers to the development.

Polaris 3083 by DealCorp

Polaris 3083 is a new high density community and retail development in Bundoora, Victoria. Appointed by Deal Corporation and working
with Places Victoria, the Darebin City Council and anchor tenants Woolworths and Dan Murphy’s, ClarkeHopkinsClarke designed a masterplan solution that creates a socially activated and vibrant town centre that the developers have dubbed, ‘The Carlton of the North’.

Integrating the Larundel Hospital buildings was a key consideration
for the masterplan. The need for functionality was balanced with
the preservation of these heritage elements as well as a number of
established trees. These elements lend a sense of history, permanency
and character to this new neighbourhood. Attractive features such as
green walls, public seating, dining and meeting areas and public art
ensure the urban environment is an attractive place for locals to linger.
These and the eclectic approach to the built form lend a sense of
authenticity that creates a unique sense of place and genuine appeal
that has seen each subsequent stage sell strongly.

Warralily by Newland Developers

Newland Developer’s Warralily is an exemplar of environmental design and integrated storm water management. Armstrong Creek is an ephemeral waterway system that traverses the Warralily site
from its western to eastern boundaries. Prior to European settlement it was widely used by the Wadawurrung people but since European
settlement has been significantly degraded.

The rehabilitation and reconstruction of 3.0km of the creek corridor has created a best of breed fully integrated stormwater, environmental and open space ecosystem. Newland brought together a complex and extremely enthusiastic team of experts including GbLA, Neil Craigie Pty Ltd, SMEC, Australian Ecosystems and Ecology and Heritage Partners to create a truly excellent landscape outcome.

Judges' AWARD (metropolitan)

Forge Apartments by Mirvac

6-(2).jpgMirvac’s $200 million Forge residential tower is an outstanding example of high quality, innovative apartment design in the urban high-density residential market. Completed in March 2017 and rising approximately 100 metres tall, Forge’s sculptural façade is one of the first residential towers on the north facing bank of the Yarra River
seen by commuters entering Melbourne’s CBD from the Bolte Bridge. Located at the western end of the Wharf’s Entrance precinct at Yarra’s Edge, the 228-apartment tower boasts impressive views of the city skyline, as well as the Yarra River and Port Phillip Bay.

Forge by Mirvac is distinctive for its clever design response, providing apartments for multiple life stages, including creative artist apartment studios for singles, lofts for couples and three-bedroom residences for families. Its resident amenity is second-to-none and design pays tribute to the area’s wharf history, while architecturally unique curved façade designed with silver, glass and steel bring a lightness to the Yarra’s Edge precinct. Mirvac’s integrated model manages the entire design, marketing, sales and construction process, ensuring superior
quality control and high levels of service.

JUDGES' AWARD (Regional)

Jackson’s View by Cartagen Properties

fileN2IV9ZJT-(1).jpgFor regional centres to grow they have to differentiate themselves from the suburbs of Melbourne and provide a new experience.
The Jackson families’ Cartagen Properties’ Jackson’s View development in Drouin succeeds in achieving this.

Jackson’s View has key features that make it work. Affordable housing, the highly characteristic McNeilly Park, proximity to Drouin’s
central area, public transport, fibre optic cable, the country club, and the impressive backdrop of the Strzelecki Ranges which all add to the character and livability of Jackson’s view. By adding layers of amenity to the development Cartagan have created an outstanding development that sets the standard for regional residential developments in medium sized regional cities.
